Consignment

What is consignment?

Consignment is an arrangement in which you sell your products through our storefront and share the resulting revenue.

Why consign?

Most record stores will offer you less than 10% of the market price of a record when you sell to them. With consignment, we offer an even 50/50 split on the price that we sell the record for in our shop.

How does consignment work?

You will drop off your collection with us and we will evaluate it, price it, and put it out on the shelves. As customers purchase your records, we will pay you out at 50% of the selling price. For example, if your record sold for $30.00, you will be paid out $15.00.

How do payouts work?

We will conduct weekly payouts on Fridays. We will send your weekly payout to your desired digital method (Apple Pay, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal) along with an email receipt of what records sold and the price they sold for.

How long will my records be on consignment?

We will hold your records for 90 days under consignment and if they have not sold within the 90-day window, we will contact you. You will have the opportunity to either flat out sell your collection to us, or take it back. We will give a five-day grace period for you to give us a response. If we are unable to contact you during this period, you will be legally forced to surrender your collection to the shop.

What are the requirements to consign?

There is no minimum collection requirement, so you can consign just one record if you’d like.

You will need to be at least 18 years old.

A valid ID is required.

It is illegal for us to take records or collections that appear to be stolen or if the consigning individual appears to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

When can I take in my collection to consign?

Generally our regular business hours will work, but if you have a large collection we highly recommend first emailing us to ensure we will be available, since we know how much of a pain it is to lug records around!

What if I change my mind after already giving up my collection?

At any point you have consignor’s remorse and change your mind on consigning, you can absolutely take your collection back. As a consignor, you retain ownership of your items until they are sold and you have the legal right to request them back from the seller (consignee), as outlined in our consignment agreement.

What is the consignment agreement?

The consignment agreement is the written version of what we’ve already explained above. When you consign with us, you’re letting us sell your records in our shop while you keep ownership of them until they’re purchased. We handle the evaluation, set the prices, put everything out on the shelves, and take care of the sales process. When a record sells, you get 50% of the selling price, and we send out payouts every Friday through your preferred digital method. The agreement also covers how long we’ll keep your records (90 days), what happens if something doesn’t sell, and the basic requirements for consigning - like being 18 or older, having a valid ID, and making sure the collection is legitimately yours. It also explains your right to take your collection back at any time if you change your mind. The consignment agreement just lays out the process we follow in the shop so everything stays transparent and smooth for everyone involved.
